A new front door

Posted by in House Renovation

Wow! It only took us 3 years to finally get a new front door! Well, in my opinion it was worth the wait. The old door was nasty! It was ugly, had been repainted quite poorly by the realtor when he was putting ‘lipstick on the pig’, the design inside was crumbling, it was just a hot mess! Nonetheless, we finally got the new door ordered before Christmas. Several months later it came in and we got it installed. We’re so pleased with the updated look and the double doors look so different and the glass lets tons of light in!

We also went ahead and removed the strange and ugly tile on the front porch and on the step up into the house. A days work with the air chisel and it was gone! Now we’ll have it resurfaced to be just smooth concrete and stain it with some grey concrete stain. Looking at these pictures I think I need to get a larger front door mat for the double doors now!

It was important that our little Bear could see through the door. He barely makes it but has figured out how to stretch his neck to see over the bottom of the door. Isn’t he so damn cute??

Paul promptly put the trim up around the door to finish it off. It looks pretty good, we think!
